Do you want to explore a different culture and one of the world’s healthiest cuisines while learning how to prepare beautiful and healthy food? Through this course, you learn the principles of Japanese cuisine and food culture and how to prepare healthy foods to strengthen bodies and minds! Our instructor provides an interactive presentation
about Japanese food, culture and nutrition using a Zoom video call, demonstrates how to make Japanese food and leads students in cooking and fun activities. Many of the ingredients can be found in a standard supermarket but we realize that obtaining all the ingredients for the recipes may be difficult during this time, so we will suggest substitutions. Students can improvise or save the recipes for a later date. The Wa-Shokuiku consists of 6 units that focus on different topics to expose students to Japanese food culture and foodways which include:
· Healthy and balanced eating
· Japanese manners and customs
· Food-related issues in local and global communities
